What started as a 12x18 sheet cake Marble (Butter/Spice Cake)
Measuring to cut into 4 even strips
Marking the cake to be cut
P.S. This is our CAKE measuring tape, but it doesn't touch the cake
Cutting the first "strip"
Second "strip"
And the last cut
Total of 4 slices
Inside the cake, Marble (butter/spice cake) Yummy !!
Cream Cheese Icing
My hubby making a "template" of the shoe
This is how the "template" looks like
We place the "template" in front of the cake and cut away !
It looks square but it has to be shaped
Final product after cutting, in the back is the pic of the actual shoe =)
Time to frost the layers
First and second layers with the Cream cheese icing
"dirty" iced for now
Into the freezer it goes for about an hour
After icing a little more we start covering with black fondant
Giving it some definition
These were also templates my hubby made from looking at the pics then cut them out of white fondant and make little "holes" with a clean straw
I add some "shoelace" string by rolling thin pieces of black fondant ( I really need a clay extruder)
In the back there is a little holographic bubble with the number 23 on it (this is just a piece of white fondant with a 23 traced with some dust powders then some avocado luster dust) to create the effect
Making the Jordan sign with a little piece of black fondant and Americolor gelpaste white (this is what we use to write on fondant) all edible
Other side with the "shoelace" ok this is another piece of rolled out black fondant, make the tip a little smaller than the rest then add a little water to make it look shiny on the tip
This was a little hard to get correct since its so small and its made out of fondant ( I think he is cute)
