The simplest part of creating these toppers are building the foundations of the shoes. These are 4 separate pieces of gumpaste that have been hand-molded into these shapes. I first created the bottom "soles" (or lower portions of the shoes) and shaped them with my hands. Then I created the "high top" portions and adhered them to the bottom portions with edible glue. A lolly stick was inserted through the top all the way down to make sure they are held and dried in the perfect positions. The photo in the background will be at the very end of this tutorial. It helps to have a "simple" diagram when sculpting these foundations.
All gumpaste. Both shoes together weigh about 2 lbs. You can definitely make the cores out of styrofoam, RKT, or even cake
