Serve up a chocolate snowman to your children or party guests. Fill up this cute bowl with marshmallows, ice cream, or other sweet treats. We think he’s deliciously irresistible!
Supplies: white candy melts, chocolate candy melts, orange candy melts, skewer, water balloons (one for each snowman you are going to make)
Directions: Keeping the balloon on the small side, blow up and tie as many water balloons as you will need. Melt the white candy melts in the microwave in a heat proof measuring cup (see picture), stirring every 30 seconds. On a parchment lined baking sheet, make a circle of white chocolate for the base of your snowman. (Rub a thin coat of shortening on each balloon before you dip it into the chocolate. This will help prevent the balloon from sticking to the chocolate.) Working quickly before the base has hardened, dip a water balloon into the melted white candy melts and place on top of the base. Make sure you get a good, thick coating of white chocolate on each balloon, double dipping if necessary. After all of your snowmen heads are made, melt the chocolate and orange candy melts the same way as the white chocolate (but you won’t need as much). Draw the eyes and mouth with the flat end of a skewer and the nose with the pointed end. Once completed, place snowmen into the freezer to set the white chocolate for at least a half an hour. The balloons will deflate slightly in the freezer, starting to pull away from the sides of the chocolate. Pop the balloon and carefully peel it away from the chocolate. Fill and enjoy!
These snowmen take a little practice so you might want to try one out ahead of time. And make a few extra snowmen just in case, as the chocolate is fragile.
